PLEASE OPEN YOUR BIBLE TO JOHN 6.
The Life Impact of last Sunday’s lesson from John 5 was designed to help us “confess Christ is the center of Christian faith by affirming that if we truly worship God we will in turn believe in Jesus as God’s Son, and determine to honor God the Father by worshiping and obeying Jesus His Son.”
When Jesus was challenged by first century religious leaders for giving sight to the man born blind on the Sabbath, He gave five conclusive evidences that He was God’s Son, and this made Him to be equal to God the Father.
Today’s Life Question is “Can you prove to me that Jesus is really God’s Son?”
In the ministry of our Lord, the central period commenced with the imprisonment of John the Baptist, and found its culmination with the confession of Peter near Caesarea Philippi.
That period lasted for about three years; it is the period to which John gives least attention.
All he has to tell us about his three-year period is found in Ch.6, running into the first verse of Ch. 7, which marks the end of the period.
Today’s lesson is about the unbelief of a large crowd of disciples who witnessed clear evidence of Jesus’ claims about Himself. The lesson is also about the faith of a handful of disciples who were convinced of Jesus deity even before His miraculous feeding of the 5,000.
Accepting Jesus of God’s Son is an act of faith.
